Job Captain
Katerina grew up in the South Bay and moved to San Francisco for its vibrant city life. She holds a Bachelor’s in Architecture from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. During her undergraduate experience, she studied abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark, which instilled in her a love for Scandinavian design and its emphasis on architecture that is humanistic, refined and functional.
As a Job Captain at WDA, Katerina brings her experience designing large-scale high-end commercial projects and a high value for precision and close coordination. She’s worked on all phases of design through construction administration on projects ranging from restaurants and retail, to tech interiors and high end single-family residences.
Time spent getting to know people—whether catching up at coffee shops or trying out new restaurants—fuels Katerina’s desire to design and shape environments in which relationships are built. In her free time, you can find her exploring the city, traveling, making music on the piano and designing cards.
- Who is an architect or designer, living or dead, that you admire?
- Peter Zumthor. I visited his Thermal Baths in Vals, Switzerland a few years back and it was a really unique architectural experience. Part of the baths extends outside, and sitting there and being able to see the Swiss Alps was amazing.
- What is one of your favorite works of design?
- I really like the work of fashion illustrator Katie Rodgers, who mainly uses watercolors but overlays iridescent acrylics to emphasize certain characteristics of the subject – the body, the gown being worn, atmosphere, etc.
