WDA is pleased to announce that Jim Westover has accepted an adjunct faculty position in the Department of Art + Architecture at the University of San Francisco (USF) for fall 2020. Jim will co-teach the Materials and Methods course, where second year students will learn fundamental concepts and apply their knowledge through the design and documentation of a small architecture project. Jim will join Assistant Professor Steven I. Doctors of The CM+ Group and fellow adjunct faculty member Greg Sheppard, a Senior Project Architect with FORGE, in teaching the studio portion of the course.
Jim sees this teaching opportunity as a natural extension of his role at WDA of mentoring and shepherding his team of young and talented designers. “In my current position much of my satisfaction comes from helping others succeed in their roles,” Westover said. “It’s gratifying to see others develop and grow as architects. My hope is that students will be able to learn from my experience, both the successes and probably a few mistakes, and that this will help them succeed in their academic and professional careers.”
Jim is responsible for managing WDA’s residential practice, leading the firm’s residential and winery projects, and participating in management of overall firm operations. In addition to his role at USF, Jim strongly believes in actively supporting his community. His past pro bono work includes serving as Project Architect for the renovation of San Francisco’s Lincoln Park Steps.
