Chris Stokes

Project Manager

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Chris hails from a family of contractors and builders. While earning a Bachelor’s in Architecture from Temple University, Chris studied abroad in Rome, which inspired his love for travel and exploring new places. Chris began his career in Philadelphia building houses and working on large-scale healthcare projects.

Chris moved to San Francisco to pursue a more design-oriented career and has since worked on a variety of project types, from offices, hospitals, and restaurants to a surf shop and a Las Vegas nightclub. Along the way, he worked for Holt Hinshaw Architects and founded his own design firm focused primarily on hospitality projects, where he took each project from conception to construction.

Here at WDA, Chris is a Project Manager in our Hospitality practice. In his free time, Chris owns his own gallery in the Tenderloin called The One and Done, and is a resident artist at Luna Rienne Gallery. His artwork is a reflection of his travels and his interest in science fiction. He donates his art for Hospitality House’s annual auction benefiting their community arts program and services for the Tenderloin homeless community.

What is one of your favorite design-focused places?
Smoke Signals on Polk Street. It’s a cigar shop that sells almost every design magazine out there, both international and domestic.
