Jessica counts her primary school years living in Hong Kong as when she first developed a love of architecture. It was there among the mix of metropolitan high-rises, British colonial buildings and rural villages, that she perceived buildings are a built record of how people live. During her university days at Cal Poly Pomona, that initial observation grew to an appreciation of architecture as a form of cultural expression and the understanding that good architecture enriches those around it.

Jessica’s prior experience includes hospitality, retail and award-winning commercial interiors and laboratory projects. Here at WDA she is a Project Architect in our Community Practice. She was drawn to the position to work with people and projects that serve the public.

A Bay Area native, Jessica lives in Alameda with her family. On weekends, she’s most likely sharing her love of cooking with her kids, making art with them or out at the zoo.

What’s your dream project?
I’ve always been fascinated with large public modes of transportation like trains and ships. It would be so interesting to celebrate the buildings that housed these behemoths and make them relevant to present times.
What other profession intrigues you?
Woodworking. There’s something very magical knowing you can build something tangible with just a few tools and time honing the craft.
