The Battery was conceived as a modern woodland escape.

Balancing immersive hospitality with a deep connection to the surrounding landscape, The Battery reimagines the micro-cabin as a refined woodland retreat. Designed for the SHLTR competition and recognized with a Merit Award, the concept explores how compact architecture can heighten sensory experience, wellness and environmental responsiveness. Elevated within a forest clearing, the cabin’s lightweight steel framework, expansive glazing, and retractable roof blur the boundary between indoors and out, creating a dynamic living environment attuned to sunlight, airflow and the rhythms of nature. Thoughtfully integrated amenities—including an outdoor bathing experience, beverage bar and shared wellness pavilions support both solitude and community, offering guests a restorative escape centered on simplicity, adaptability and connection to place.
