Jim Westover

William Duff Architects’ Principal Jim Westover served as pro bono project architect during the seven-year, two-phase renovation to revitalize the public Lincoln Park steps and seating area leading from California Street to scenic Lincoln Park. Included was the addition of ornamental ceramic tile designed by a local artist to evoke the Beaux Arts grandeur of historic San Francisco.

As project architect, Westover worked closely with Rec and Parks, the Friends of Lincoln Park, and the San Francisco Parks Alliance to establish a common vision for the Lincoln Park steps and obtain the San Francisco Arts Commission’s design approval. Then, he facilitated the needs of multiple stakeholders to ensure the project’s timely progress through the Mayor’s Office of Disability as well as the coordination of construction schedules of the tile artist and general contractor.

The project was lauded in multiple publications as a model of a successful public/private partnership that transformed a space for the benefit of the entire community.
