The Roche Harbor Historic Cottages project thoughtfully expands two of the resort’s most beloved guest accommodations. Originally constructed as homes for managers of the historic Roche Harbor Lime Company, the cottages are part of a collection of six historic accommodations that have welcomed generations of visitors seeking a more intimate connection to the resort and surrounding San Juan Islands. The approximately 360 sf additions introduce new bedrooms and bathrooms, allowing the cottages to better serve families and groups while maintaining the scale and spirit of the original structures. Carefully integrated into the existing architecture, the expansions respect the historic cottage forms and their relationship to the surrounding landscape. Outdoor gathering spaces, harbor views, and easy access to resort amenities continue to define the guest experience. The result is a thoughtful evolution of a cherished retreat—preserving its unique sense of place while creating new opportunities for guests to gather, reconnect, and create lasting memories.
